Hello and peace! My name is David. I love the Catholic Church and I take all of her teachings to heart. If there is something I do not initially agree with or understand, then I take a great amount of time to investigate and meditate before I make a judgment. So, that is the perspective from which I come in writing this blog.
However, this does not mean I am closed off to what others who do not share my faith have to offer. All people have the capacity for reason and seeking truth through the use of their reason. I agree with what Pope John Paul II says: "It must not be forgotten that reason too needs to be sustained in all its searching by trusting dialogue and sincere friendship." Let us have trusting dialogue and let us build a sincere intellectual friendship.
I was a Jesuit (member of the Society of Jesus) for four years, and it was during this time that I fell in love with Philosophy and the search for truth through study, writing, conversation, and meditation. I have since departed the Jesuits and am working on a BA in Philosophy and German Studies, and I plan to pursue a PhD in Philosophy. So, the hope of this website is to help me in my growth as a philosopher and as a human being.
